Operational Parameter Analysis and Performance Optimization of Zinc–Bromine Redox Flow Battery

Zinc–bromine redox flow battery (ZBFB) is one of the most promising candidates for large-scale energy storage due to its high density, low cost, and long cycle life. However, numerical simulation studies on ZBFB are limited. The effects operational parameters performance design strategy remain unclear. Herein, a 2D transient model developed reveal electrolyte rate, electrode thickness, porosity performance. results show that higher positive rates can improve performance; however, increasing thickness or causes larger overpotential, thus deteriorating On basis these findings, genetic algorithm was performed optimize batter considering all parameters. It found efficiency reach 79.42% at current density 20 mA cm−2. This work helpful understand characteristics high-performance operating various conditions.
